Yet another excellent model has just been air dropped on
us from the Dalton custom shop! There are so many great designs from this
small production maker's last decade of work - undisputed more produced
auto designs than any other auto knife maker. And he's notorious for these
unique custom built 500 knife runs that sell out shortly after production.
Factiod: Back in the days of PVK paper catalogs (before anyone knew the
name Bill Gates even) putting a Dalton knife in the printed catalog was
a major problem even with 100s on hand for delivery - 10000 plus collectors
would get those catalogs and look them over for a few months and the orders
for the knives would continue to come in years even after the knives were
sold out. Even trying to buy the entire production of 500 would never
be enough. Incidentally if you ever call into PVK to order a knife (888
878 5643) you'll note that the first question you're asked is generally
not related to your name and address information but more along the lines
of which knife would you like to order. And that's just in case you're
going to ask for that older dalton model as people do to this day!
So here we have yet another outside the box design from this maker's custom
shop - in short run each knife individually serial numbered at the butt
and bearing the maker mark ("Dalton USA") on the reverse of
the modified clip point blade. The handles are standard T6 Alloy with
a pair of flush mounted (nearly seamless) silky smooth black anodized
T6 alloy inlays that are held fast by two per side machine screws. The mechanism is extra tightly wound coil type which is a
must for this large 4" blade. Blade speed is phenomenally
fast - blink and you miss the action and hold tight here comes another
Dalton.
